About the Course
The Dilpoma in Community Service is designed to build your skills, knowledge and understanding to work as a professional community services worker. The community service may include areas such as, mental health, homelessness, family and domestic violence, child protection, employment support, and migrant services. This course will enhance your existing knowledge in direct service work and client support so that you can make a genuine difference in people’s lives and communities. You will learn to develop and implement programs and services that meet various needs of individuals and families. You will be trained to take a holistic approach by developing practical knowledge of working with a diverse range of people, using a case management approach. You will also learn other valuable skills such as advocacy, counselling and group work. The qualification requires that students must have undertaken 120 hours of work to successfully complete the course. On graduation, you will work in the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in the managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering of people-centred services to individuals, families and communities.
