Physics (M.S.)

The Master of Science in Physics degree is a 30 credit degree to meet the needs of students interested in expanding their knowledge of physics beyond the undergraduate level, who wish to pursue careers in skilled technical fields that include basic science & research, space & earth science, environmental science, lasers, engineering, medicine, computers, education, industry, and science communications. There is i) a research thesis option for those who wish to apply their efforts to original research in some field of physics, and ii) a research report option for those who wish to apply their efforts in understanding or describing a topic in physics. The research areas available to students are 1) atomic, molecular and optical physics, 2) condensed, soft, and biological matter physics, 3) cosmology and particle astrophysics, 4) high energy physics, and 5) research in physics education.
