History (BA)

Wherever your passions lie, we offer a remarkable chronological and geographical range to inspire you. From the rise of ancient empires to Twentieth Century Germany, the witch-hunts of Renaissance Europe to Revolutionary Russia, the Crusades to western encounters with modern Japan, our range of optional modules allows you to shape your degree to best suit your interests and aspirations. You’ll re-evaluate existing understandings of the past to create new and original interpretations of your own, and encounter different ways of doing History, including the histories of gender, transnational connections, digital histories, the history of religions, and environmental histories. You’ll become a confident historian, learning to read between the lines, question original sources, and explore new ideas.
