Bachelor of Biomedicine (Specialised)

at University of Western Australia

About the Course

The Bachelor of Biomedicine is a practical degree in which students will learn to master and apply biological and physiological principles to clinical practice and research across a broad arena of health and medical disciplines. It includes four preclinical Extended Majors, three of which provide assured pathways into postgraduate clinical degrees (medicine, dentistry and podiatry). The fourth is the new Extended Major in Medical Science with Specialisation, which has been developed to combine essential training and clinical context with a major-level focus on a chosen discipline to provide a strong foundation for other biomedical/health-related postgraduate studies including Masters and PhD studies at UWA. Students all take a set of core units in Levels 1 and 2, along with their chosen specialisation units. In year 3, students in the direct pathways commence their professional specialty units (Y1 professional degree), while students in the Medical Science Extended Major complete their Level 3 specialisation units plus two body systems units.
