About the Course

Physiotherapy is a continuously evolving profession that strives to make a difference to people’s lives by helping patients manage their recovery from illness or injury, manage long-term and life-long conditions or work to promote positive movement and physical activity behaviours. It will also endeavour to promote public health and wellbeing by encouraging people to maintain optimal health throughout their lifespan. The physiotherapy part-time degree at USW is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to flourish as an innovative and autonomous professional across an expansive range of settings within various practice settings. It also recognises the ever-changing face of healthcare and the integration of technology; therefore, this unique course provides opportunities to learn with other healthcare professionals as well as using state-of-the-art modern technology to complement and enhance your skills. The course will comprise of 4 years of part-time learning, with placement learning embedded as a critical element to enhance the theory and practical skills you will develop. There will be 9 placements in total, spanning a variety of clinical specialities, for you to grow into an accomplished, autonomous individual. Physiotherapy is an applied health discipline that supports the participation of people from all backgrounds and abilities in the occupations that help define them and their quality of life. Practically oriented students who are compassionate, understanding, and curious about using a variety of approaches to help improve quality of life, are ideally suited to this course that will lead to a rewarding career. Graduates will be eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council and membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, to enable them to practice as a qualified Physiotherapist, providing a plethora of employment opportunities.
